You are the One: A Journey of Recovery, Discovery and Empowerment
Kelly Addington and Becca Tieder are the founders of One Student (www.onestudent.org), a non-profit organization that provides students and their allies with programs, resources and opportunities to address sexual violence.
Best friends since high school, they were attending college together when, one night, Kelly was raped by a man she was dating. Kelly, deeply traumatized by the assault and resulting pregnancy, developed nightmares and sought support from Becca, who became an integral part of Kelly’s healing process.
Shortly after graduating from college it became clear to the two women that their true mission was to bring awareness of sexual assault issues to college campuses and to change the culture that fosters sexual assault. They have since worked with over 300 college campuses sharing their story with over half a million students. With humor, insight, and an eye on empowerment, "You Are the One" follows Kelly and Becca across the country as they engage with students and spread the message that one student can truly make a difference.
